Turning a life around
James suffered abuse at the hands of his alcoholic father for years, and had no one at home to encourage him to go to school. He soon started experimenting with drugs and turned to petty theft to fund his habit. As his crimes escalated, James found himself with a custodial sentence at HMYOI Wetherby. He was just 15 years old. James desperately wanted help to turn his life around, so contacted In2Out. On release, we provided a one-to-one mentor who was there for him when he thought no one else cared. We helped him find an apprenticeship, and introduced him to new groups of friends. Now James is free from the destructive power of drugs, has qualifications, and is part of his local church community.
